RECYCLEDCRAFT: Space Sex Mystery?

PREMISE (example)

You awaken on a train - or a sleek-feeling spacecraft, or a boat, or even a submarine.
The shape of the craft isn't important, or even immediately apparent - but you are here, a sealed, surprisingly comfortable room with a soft bed, whereas before you were home. If home was even where you wanted to be.

"Good morning, passenger," a voice purrs; you can feel a presence with it, but there's no indication anyone is in the room with you.

There is, however, a comfortable weight along your legs, your arms, your spine... something appears ready to keep you here for a while.

What will you do?

CONTEXT

What is this, exactly? This premise is a smut spinoff of a wider continuity - the 'space'craft your character is on has taken your character from their home. It - any and all pronouns are fine, and if you OOCly have a preference just give a heads-up in your starter comment and we'll go from there - has been through quite a time recently, having lost its crew and the programming that initially determined its purpose. (Some data/facts still remain for basic navigation and specialization - see the next entry!) Nor does it remember exactly how it happened, just that something terrible happened and it has to do things more on-its-own now.

But what it can still do is (A) interpret characters' emotions and respond accordingly, (B) provide safe and sturdy transport plus life support and (C) bond intensely with those now tied to it!

This can be for a one-on-one scenario, a group account, or even joint threading if everyone would like to put in the time to sort things out! Can start with the premise above, or can be time-skipped along to where both parties are familiar with one another.

OPTIONS

What kind of 'craft are you on, anyway?
The Ace - originally a sleek fighter craft, this one was made to take to space and the skies with impunity! Very flexible, good at interpreting orders, and still carries echoes of 'tude from its former crew. And now it's focusing all that energy on you. Think you can take it?

Star-Gazer - originally a solo-craft meant for exploration, this 'craft was built to take someone far, and to provide companionship to anchor someone to reality on the way. It's designed to be cozy, and is not meant to be shared. Maybe it remembers another name alongside yours, but it no longer recalls those memories consistently. But perhaps that isn't a bad thing...

Like the Lightning - this was a mercenary's craft, passed along from generation to generation. With acute knowledge of trade routes and meticulously-crafted stealth routines to take shelter on even the most unexpected worlds, its job is to do the job - but it can't do so alone, and that's where you come in. Such a partnership does come with benefits, as a matter of course.

The Lost One* - a missioncraft, badly damaged, better suited for a group than an individual... but it has found someone, and will desperately work to make sure they are safe. Believes very strongly in doing the Just thing, but now it doubts it knows how to determine that anymore. Appears to have lost everything twice over, and has just enough memory to make it very hard to accept things at face value. Befriending this one is the most difficult possibility, but it is doable - if you wish to sincerely try.

*This IS meant to poke fun at myself, to be clear.

GENERAL SCENARIOS

Introductions - Exactly what it says on the tin.
Visiting a World - Can be just shopping, can be a 'risk of getting caught' sort of deal, or you've caught whiff of Adventure. Each 'craft will have different reactions, of course, but fun CAN be had by all!
Voidstorm* - Traveling through one of these tends to have... unique effects. Usually ones that are temporarily bad for one's sanity, but not having to be alone during them is supposed to help. Or it can just make things weirder; you never know! Don't try to break the windows and go outside, though; that's never a good idea.

*I'm not changing what it's called, because I can't think of anything better to call it. To explain 'from the outside': imagine if sex pollen were a space phenomenon you could fly through, and be directly effected mentally/emotionally. Hallucinations, particularly shared hallucinations, are common. Seeing people you love outside and feeling compelled to go out there is also possible. Other possibilities include seeing emotions as aura colors, feeling compelled to speak and act on one's deepest feelings, and not being able to understand other languages.
You can see why sex pollen wouldn't be out of place here, right?

The 'inactivity' phase flickered off as soon as Enki registered as within range, much to the voidcraft's relief.

The cloak flickered off in acknowledgement, as opposed to using a much more risky whistle this time, and it quietly projected appreciation.

It was eager, inasmuch as it wanted to think of itself as being such toward anything, to get things started.

Enki grinned, and started pulling out supplies that included a small grav sled and net. He activated the sled and freed all but one side of the net to leave it loose, draping from the hovering sled and onto the ground. He didn't say much as he got to work, but left the air... comfortably open. He might not have had the time to really get to know the heira yet, but he enjoyed their company. And having something to do helped him not feel nervous the way he tended to when he met new people.

Wanting to put the night's experiences (such as they were) behind it, its presence settled down towards quiet, intent, interest.

Again would come the warnings if there was something outside of Enki's range of vision about to fall on him or similar.

The voidcraft was also eager to have something to do, it seemed... if much less eager to think about that.

Even if the warning weren't needed, Enki appreciated them and after a bit he paused, focusing on the hiera and considering for a moment before speaking. "If um, if you'd like I can share stories? Or we can work in silence. Whichever you prefer." He was just as happy to work quietly, but if they'd prefer stories he did remember some that didn't directly effect him.

There is definitely an uptick in interest at that, along with a short emotion-projection to indicate the same.

Yes please!

Followed by a projection of a literal book. Imagery-based is fine, too.

Though this might impact Enki's ability to notice his surroundings... they could cross that bridge when they came to it.

It did and he had to pause a while, focusing on what story he could envision without getting distracted and having other thoughts or images intrude. In the end his focus went to the swords of S'Harien.

The images started out foggy, with historical figures he'd never seen, not even in holos. But over it all a mental voice seemed to narrate. It was not Enki's this voice held as much confidence as Enki's lacked, but much like Enki's it was soothing.

It started with S'Harien, even if the image was vague the intent was there. A renowned smith from the Sas-a-shar desert who despised Surak and his spreading teachings and went to confront him. It was just as Surak's teachings of cthia, logic, began to spread, bringing end to centuries of war, a war that could have wiped out the people of this world had they been only a little more technologically advanced. Surak changed S'Harien's mind and they spoke at length. And when S'Harien left, he set about destroying all the blades he'd forged.

Seeing this, Surak pleaded with him to stop, because the weapons were beautiful. But S'Harien would not be swayed because of the violence they represented. So Surak, knowing his old protege was working to leave the world, found three of the blades and gave them to S'Task. Begging him to take them with him.

Time seemed to jump, showing the ships on their travels, the number decreasing as they jumped from world to world, propelled forward not by warp speed but using solar gravity. And when they reached the twin worlds, far fewer ships and only one blade remained, it became a symbol to the Sundered who had left Ah'rak because they found the value in emotions and even violence. And then time blurred, leaving only an image of the sword in the council chamber, taking up a seat as if it were a revered being.
And then fire enveloped the twin worlds and the sword was lost, the mental image went dark for a long moment.
And then a spark, the world in the vision at this point recognizable as this one. And one of the blade, much aged, unusable as an actual weapon. But found when it had been believed to be destroyed thousands of years prior. And it was taken as a sign that this was the world they could call home, Mol'Rihan.

There was an image of a leader, D'Tan, not taking the blade for himself, but showing it, and uniting the Rihannsu and Havrannsu since there was plenty of space for both people to call this world home. When he spoke it became clear the earlier narrations had been his voice.

The scope of time was unclear. How long ago the twin worlds had been lost, for instance. It could have been centuries or only a couple years and he didn't think to clarify.

He had some trouble working and focusing on the images, and eventually gave up on the former. It didn't help that he mentally broadcasting rather than passively displaying them, though he didn't realize it. He shrugged after finishing, looking sheepish as he realized he'd neglected what he'd actually been trying to do. "Sorry," he mumbled. It probably hadn't even been the best story, picking something focusing on inanimate objects.

The hiera's own reactions were mixed; the symbolism of emotion paired with violence, versus the nature of peace paired with silence, struck an awkward chord with the voidcraft.

It could not tell if it was straightforward history, either, even with the context of space travel (slingshot maneuvers? very quaint!) and the ending of reuniting races in the spirit of a new kind of peace.

It did remember to transmit thanks, though; even if it wasn't sure how to feel about the story, that was no excuse not to be polite.

Enki picked up enough of the awkwardness and ducked his head, flushing. "I... don't know how much is true, but I don't know if it matters. What matters is those swords became a symbol of the Rihan as a whole? And I think finding the one here will actually help not just with establishing a home, but with reunification with the V'Tosh." One where the Rihanh and Havranh peoples wouldn't end up either splitting away again, or lost as a society.

As far as the voidcraft could tell, it had no way of detecting if such a weapon was present; that was not usually what it sought out, when...

No; such thoughts were still too painful, even now.

Instead, it transmitted an image of earth building up, all around the planet. How long ago could this have happened?

Looked at that way, it was almost an academic problem, but such was not to be lingered upon.

Enki raised an eyebrow at the question. Oh... had he been even less clear than when trying to tell a story without speaking? "Oh um, it was found... about a year ago. Thats why we picked this world to settle. It meant the sundered had tried to 2000 years ago, but there was too much ambient radiation and it wasn't habitable back then so they had to move on. I mostly um... it's important because of its potential? Like it's not even a weapon anymore and couldn't be used that way without breaking, but as a symbol... Proconsul D'Tan thinks it's invaluable."

Ahhh; that was one less concern to carry, then.

But then, the voidcraft had been a symbol of sorts, for its own system and many others... and it hadn't much liked that.

There was no need to bring that up, however, and so it simply transmitted a sense of acceptance - and pointed out that there was a rock in Enki's current path.

It hadn't been there yesterday, and so it seemed a likelier trip hazard than some.

Enki paused, he'd been a bit distracted and might have missed it. "Thanks," he mumbled, sheepish, getting to work with a bit more effort as if to make up for lost time.

"I'll... have to hunt for a better story next time. If it isn't obvious, I don't really interact with a lot of telepaths, so I don't really know how to tell stories with images." The poems and songs would certainly lose something for it even if he did.

The voidcraft indicated that he did not have to, nor was he required to.

That he had tried was appreciated enough, really. Others previous had tried and ultimately been diverted by their own stresses, but Enki had chosen to stay, and had not been forced to.

That made a difference.

Enki shrugged and smiled softly.

"Still. It's nice to talk." Unsaid, but very much felt was that he was fine with comfortable silences--or awkward silences to be honest, they happened a lot when you were shy--but getting to know each other was nice too. And it was a bit easier with this being, even if he still managed to put his foot in his mouth. Maybe it was because their thoughts were different than they were accustomed to, and had enough thought forms rather than words that he had an easier time relating quickly.

The voidcraft had never been much of a talker, relying on its past crews to fill in the silence-

And for other reasons, which it winced upon recalling.

Back to work? Perhaps that was best for the both of them for the moment.

Enki ducked his head before mumbling, "Ie."

And then he set to working in silence, putting all his focus into loading the grav sled and treating damaged plants that could remain where they were. While his presence was still obvious, nothing else leaked over while he worked.

The hiera - voidcraft - hesitated, doing its best to maintain a quiet presence, while still making it clear to Enki that it wasn't going anywhere.

It briefly considered the idea of reaching out to plants - but, no, such had never been its talent, and these plants weren't alive in a way it could reach anyhow.

If the plants could be reached, Enki certainly wasn't aware of it, but then, he had his scanner to help know which ones could be treated with what he had, so it didn't matter too much. Eventually someone else would come in and handle what he couldn't and replant, keeping at balance with their world was very much a goal to the settlements.

As he worked he made multiple trips to drop off the contents of the gravsled in a couple points out of the range of the aura. The heira keeping their presence in Enki's awareness even as he went away and returned meant that eventually he relaxed significantly. Much of his tension had been looping over the idea that he'd messed up somehow.

After a few trips he took a seat by the bag and rummaged for a ration bar because ie, it was past time for a break. He considered the surroundings as he nibbled at the bar. Already it looked a lot better. If he kept pushing he would probably have anything that couldn't wait cleared out by the end of that day or at the least sometime the next.

The voidcraft wasn't quite the type to encourage people it looked after to eat more, but somehow the volume of work indicated to it that Enki probably needed more than just a ration bar.

... That said, there were other factors to look after.

Meditate? It transmitted an 'image' of soothing colors. Rest, for Enki, would be most useful, as far as it was concerned.

Enki looked curious at the suggestion but shrugged. "Ie. Sure... probably not a bad idea." He waited to finish the bar first and then set about breathing exercises. He'd been meditating as far back as he could remember, so it was easy enough to slide into.

Of course, last time he'd meditated he'd ended up having to fight not to get caught up in the heiran thoughts. Hopefully without them spiraling this time that wouldn't be an issue.

And sure enough, they kept themselves out of the way, finding as much in observing Enki's patterns as they had his earlier actions.

After enough time passed, they softly began to purr. An encouragement, hopefully nothing more.

It was easier to pick up intent fully when meditating. Not to mention he was second guessing his own judgement a bit less. So he understood the purr.

But. It also pulled him back to the present and he grinned, cracking an eye open. "You feeling a bit better, by the way?" While he didn't know everything, he had picked up enough to know things had been....rough for the heira.

The voidcraft was all of a sudden uncertain - for the most part, it simply did not want to think about how things had been.

But it did understand that what it was feeling now was different, and supposed that it was truth enough to answer Enki's question.

It also sent a sense of apology for having interrupted - the meditation, specifically. No sense in over-apologizing, after all.

Enki shrugged at the apology. "I don't mind. By all rights I should be able to meditate past interruption." He didn't go back into meditation, but he did lean back against a tree, looking up at the sky. One of the suns was off to one side but close to overhead, the other wasn't visible through the trees, at least not at this angle.

"I have to admit, it's... strange that no one has contacted me to help out with anything." He wondered vaguely if Tovan had gotten one of the others to hack his communicator so as to intercept calls. He would not put that past his friend. Not that he planned on checking. If someone called, he'd feel obliged to help and he didn't want to leave this undone. Or deal with people for that matter.

After several moments' pause, it conjectured that perhaps declaring a specific purpose to a meditation would be better?

But then, it hardly knew the specifics of how meditation was taught on this world; there might simply be no counterpart for its suggestion, thus making it unhelpful.

Then there was that other complication, and for the first time the voidcraft began actively looking for a transmitter network.

If Enki's device was on him, it would send out a ping - just acknowledgement, nothing more.
