RECYCLEDCRAFT: Space Sex Mystery?

PREMISE (example)

You awaken on a train - or a sleek-feeling spacecraft, or a boat, or even a submarine.
The shape of the craft isn't important, or even immediately apparent - but you are here, a sealed, surprisingly comfortable room with a soft bed, whereas before you were home. If home was even where you wanted to be.

"Good morning, passenger," a voice purrs; you can feel a presence with it, but there's no indication anyone is in the room with you.

There is, however, a comfortable weight along your legs, your arms, your spine... something appears ready to keep you here for a while.

What will you do?

CONTEXT

What is this, exactly? This premise is a smut spinoff of a wider continuity - the 'space'craft your character is on has taken your character from their home. It - any and all pronouns are fine, and if you OOCly have a preference just give a heads-up in your starter comment and we'll go from there - has been through quite a time recently, having lost its crew and the programming that initially determined its purpose. (Some data/facts still remain for basic navigation and specialization - see the next entry!) Nor does it remember exactly how it happened, just that something terrible happened and it has to do things more on-its-own now.

But what it can still do is (A) interpret characters' emotions and respond accordingly, (B) provide safe and sturdy transport plus life support and (C) bond intensely with those now tied to it!

This can be for a one-on-one scenario, a group account, or even joint threading if everyone would like to put in the time to sort things out! Can start with the premise above, or can be time-skipped along to where both parties are familiar with one another.

OPTIONS

What kind of 'craft are you on, anyway?
The Ace - originally a sleek fighter craft, this one was made to take to space and the skies with impunity! Very flexible, good at interpreting orders, and still carries echoes of 'tude from its former crew. And now it's focusing all that energy on you. Think you can take it?

Star-Gazer - originally a solo-craft meant for exploration, this 'craft was built to take someone far, and to provide companionship to anchor someone to reality on the way. It's designed to be cozy, and is not meant to be shared. Maybe it remembers another name alongside yours, but it no longer recalls those memories consistently. But perhaps that isn't a bad thing...

Like the Lightning - this was a mercenary's craft, passed along from generation to generation. With acute knowledge of trade routes and meticulously-crafted stealth routines to take shelter on even the most unexpected worlds, its job is to do the job - but it can't do so alone, and that's where you come in. Such a partnership does come with benefits, as a matter of course.

The Lost One* - a missioncraft, badly damaged, better suited for a group than an individual... but it has found someone, and will desperately work to make sure they are safe. Believes very strongly in doing the Just thing, but now it doubts it knows how to determine that anymore. Appears to have lost everything twice over, and has just enough memory to make it very hard to accept things at face value. Befriending this one is the most difficult possibility, but it is doable - if you wish to sincerely try.

*This IS meant to poke fun at myself, to be clear.

GENERAL SCENARIOS

Introductions - Exactly what it says on the tin.
Visiting a World - Can be just shopping, can be a 'risk of getting caught' sort of deal, or you've caught whiff of Adventure. Each 'craft will have different reactions, of course, but fun CAN be had by all!
Voidstorm* - Traveling through one of these tends to have... unique effects. Usually ones that are temporarily bad for one's sanity, but not having to be alone during them is supposed to help. Or it can just make things weirder; you never know! Don't try to break the windows and go outside, though; that's never a good idea.

*I'm not changing what it's called, because I can't think of anything better to call it. To explain 'from the outside': imagine if sex pollen were a space phenomenon you could fly through, and be directly effected mentally/emotionally. Hallucinations, particularly shared hallucinations, are common. Seeing people you love outside and feeling compelled to go out there is also possible. Other possibilities include seeing emotions as aura colors, feeling compelled to speak and act on one's deepest feelings, and not being able to understand other languages.
You can see why sex pollen wouldn't be out of place here, right?

How thorough of an explanation is needed?

How much of a 'story' would it take to deter suspicion, in other words.

Can phenomenon be described without causing more people to come here?

It would prefer that its own needs and struggles not run the risk of endangering more people, thank you.

Æn'kae continued worrying at his lower lip. *This world had high radiation for so long, I could probably convince them it was some of the unique fauna both that caused the readings and damage around here. At least so long as there is nothing they need to be aware of.*

He paused then, having to really work to put his next thoughts together more for thinking them loudly than saying them. *If there's something they need to know I'd rather tell the truth, or at least some of it, than delay them knowing. I can just... ask that they trust me to handle interacting with you.

That would explain why it had crashed on this planet in particular, then; not precisely relevant, but still useful to know.

That would be the least complicated.

Many of its- former voidtreckers - tripping over that remembrance with a sort of wince - had not fully grasped the extent of the voidcraft's problem, or how certain parts of it had come to pass or even layered on each other, even by the time they could be freed to go where they wished.

Convincing this 'Federation' that some things did not bear looking at too closely, did not seem like it would be very complex at all.

(Not necessarily easy - there were always outliers - but there were ways to be logical about it.)

Describe this- and here it invoked the term Æn'kae had outlined earlier to describe itself - as a temporary visitor, unfollowed, unfamiliar with 'Federation protocol'? If such would not set off further alarms.

He remained deep in thought and then nodded and switched back to speech, because well, given that the approach didn't seem to be a flat out lie, that no longer seemed to matter. And his efforts at 'thinking loudly' were already causing a tension headache behind his eyes. "I can add that you would rather not have others come to you with questions. If there's one thing we Rihannsu understand, it's a desire for privacy. And seeing as the Federation representative chose to leave the matter to us, I doubt they'll come barging back in." If this were a Federation world, well, he would not have been able to make guarantees, but seeing as it wasn't...

The hiera's attention shifted away - headaches were not enjoyable to experience, even if its receiving was more dissipated than it was used to.

That suits us both.

Æn'kae relaxed when the hiera seemed to like the idea. It was good to have a plan they both seemed to like. "I probably should let them know sooner rather than later. I um... I don't think anyone will worry about me hiding something dangerous, but I also don't know what impression that the stranger will leave."

It wasn't so much 'like' as 'not excessively care' - there was one major pending conversation coming up that it was going to need its energy for.

Suggestions: either visitor will deem it 'not relevant to personal experience', or that finding out the 'hard way' would be more entertaining.

It had met many voidtreckers from which to form that opinion, for better or worse.

That earned a snort and then Æn'kae shrugged. "Regardless, I'll speak with the subcommander sometime today. If I do that nothing the stranger says should cause either of us grief." He leaned his head back on the tree, closing his eyes. He would deal with that... later. By lunch time would be soon enough.

There came acknowledgment again - if people could be told, then doing so was the better option.

Then the hiera lapsed back into silence, this time one more associatable with deep thought.

Hopefully Æn'kae would rest, now. Maybe he'd even have an animal visitor when he woke up?

While the hiera was right that he could probably use rest, that wasn't really the plan, just trying to get past the headache before it got bad. "If I consider 'thinking loudly' at you again, maybe remind me of this headache," he grumbled quietly, not really expecting a reply, mostly complaining to complain, honestly.

Fortunately, its own first instinct upon recognizing the sound of venting was to not let itself be bothered.

Granted, that was harder than it used to be, but the input from Æn'kae was within the accepted tolerance limits it knew to 'feel' for.

If it could grumble, it would do so sympathetically, but for the moment silence would have to do.

Æn'kae was entirely fine with the silence and room to vent, rubbing at the bridge of his nose and going quiet for a while and trying to focus on the noises of nature around him rather than the pain.

It had been eerily quiet in the immediate vicinity of the hiera earlier, what with the aura trying to deflect others. But if he wasn't imagining things, some of the sound had started to return.

Did that mean they were feeling a bit better? He certainly hoped so.

And besides he liked having those sounds back. They were part of the balance of this world.

There was no singing, this time; simply letting the nature of this world reassert itself.

Slowly, yes, but it was there.

... Granted, its composure was somewhat disturbed when a leaf fell on top of it, which from the outside simply looked like the leaf was hovering in mid-air.

Enki opened an eye at that subtle shift and then had to fight back a grin. "Y'know. I'm kind of curious if your cloak works in a similar manner to ours.

This time, the voidcraft's response was confusion. Cloaks could be cloaks, but that didn't mean they had identical permissions!

As several of its voidtreckers had found out the hard way, in the past. Shoving that aside, it projected a request for clarification.

How specifically?

"Oh ummm... I'm not exactly sure. Like. I know our cloaks and the Klling'hann cloaks function on the same premise. Mostly because they stole them from us initially, but.. even so our early cloaking devices meant we couldn't even scan for other ships when they were up. And even now we can't have shields and cloak active at the same time because they're basically alternate uses of the same system." He rubbed at the back of his neck. "But I uh, I've also heard of people who use holoemitters which allows them to still use shields."

The voidcraft let the references go by - if it wanted more detail on the specs, the subspace 'net was right there - but the explanation did help explain how he was aiming the question.

It projected three different colors of shield - one 'clear' to indicate the cloak, one opaque to indicate an actual shield, and one with wavy lines to indicate holoemitters. It pushed the circles together like a venn diagram, pulled them apart, and faded them in-and-out out of sequence with each other to demonstrate.

These functions are distinct for 'hiera', but not all voidcraft have all three either.

It depended on what they were built for, as well as the technology level of their source planets.

Æn'kae blinked a couple times. While he didn't know how it worked, it sounded like it was its own distinct system which... seemed like enough to know that it functioned differently. He didn't actually need to know how it functioned, he didn't exactly know how theirs did, which meant he had the answer he'd been wondering about. It was kind of interesting to see how often different paths led to the same basic result? "Thanks," he replied with a bit of a smile.

The voidcraft pinged Æn'kae's communicator again, a simple enough acceptance.

As long as it wouldn't have to do too much excessive hiding, its current state of being was probably fine...

Æn'kae smiled and then pushed himself to his feet. Just ignore that he had to stand for a moment with a hand against the tree. "I think my headache let up enough I should go talk to the Subcommander. But I uh... I'll be back right after."

The voidcraft idly pointed its attention at Æn'kae.

Will the Subcommander also remind you to rest?

Though the specifics relied more on the nature of the pre-existing relationship, a good team commander of any stripe had a vested interest in the well-being of those they looked after.

The emotions that spilled out in response to that were far too jumbled to make sense before he clamped down on them. Not that any of them made it to his expression. He just shook his head. "Well, um, technically I'm bringing her a report while on leave so... probably? But, I'll rest when I'm back here."

The hiera made a note to itself that someone might require some discipline on interacting with subordinates... and it was not Æn'kae.

But that was not its place to comment, truly, so it sent acceptance and regards, before turning its attention back to the subspace 'net.

At least this place didn't have a wayward 'soul of wizardry' to accost it... but then, its own feelings about that being were similarly mixed.

Æn'kae didn't have more to add and was pretty sure that was the equivalent of a goodbye so he left to talk to the Subcommander.

When he returned a couple hours later he flopped wordlessly to the ground, frustrated about something but also not concerned for the Hiera's sake. And he did try to send a vague feeling of 'all is well', he just didn't feel like talking.

This, too, was familiar - it was easy enough to slip into old habits, not speaking or overly projecting its presence, simply letting Æn'kae's mood radiate off him like heat.

Not talking, it seemed, was just fine by this voidcraft.
