RECYCLEDCRAFT: Space Sex Mystery?
PREMISE (example)
You awaken on a train - or a sleek-feeling spacecraft, or a boat, or even a submarine.
The shape of the craft isn't important, or even immediately apparent - but you are here, a sealed, surprisingly comfortable room with a soft bed, whereas before you were home. If home was even where you wanted to be.
"Good morning, passenger," a voice purrs; you can feel a presence with it, but there's no indication anyone is in the room with you.
There is, however, a comfortable weight along your legs, your arms, your spine... something appears ready to keep you here for a while.
What will you do?
CONTEXT
What is this, exactly? This premise is a smut spinoff of a wider continuity - the 'space'craft your character is on has taken your character from their home. It - any and all pronouns are fine, and if you OOCly have a preference just give a heads-up in your starter comment and we'll go from there - has been through quite a time recently, having lost its crew and the programming that initially determined its purpose. (Some data/facts still remain for basic navigation and specialization - see the next entry!) Nor does it remember exactly how it happened, just that something terrible happened and it has to do things more on-its-own now.
But what it can still do is (A) interpret characters' emotions and respond accordingly, (B) provide safe and sturdy transport plus life support and (C) bond intensely with those now tied to it!
This can be for a one-on-one scenario, a group account, or even joint threading if everyone would like to put in the time to sort things out! Can start with the premise above, or can be time-skipped along to where both parties are familiar with one another.
OPTIONS
What kind of 'craft are you on, anyway?
The Ace - originally a sleek fighter craft, this one was made to take to space and the skies with impunity! Very flexible, good at interpreting orders, and still carries echoes of 'tude from its former crew. And now it's focusing all that energy on you. Think you can take it?
Star-Gazer - originally a solo-craft meant for exploration, this 'craft was built to take someone far, and to provide companionship to anchor someone to reality on the way. It's designed to be cozy, and is not meant to be shared. Maybe it remembers another name alongside yours, but it no longer recalls those memories consistently. But perhaps that isn't a bad thing...
Like the Lightning - this was a mercenary's craft, passed along from generation to generation. With acute knowledge of trade routes and meticulously-crafted stealth routines to take shelter on even the most unexpected worlds, its job is to do the job - but it can't do so alone, and that's where you come in. Such a partnership does come with benefits, as a matter of course.
*This IS meant to poke fun at myself, to be clear.
GENERAL SCENARIOS
Introductions - Exactly what it says on the tin.
Visiting a World - Can be just shopping, can be a 'risk of getting caught' sort of deal, or you've caught whiff of Adventure. Each 'craft will have different reactions, of course, but fun CAN be had by all!
Voidstorm* - Traveling through one of these tends to have... unique effects. Usually ones that are temporarily bad for one's sanity, but not having to be alone during them is supposed to help. Or it can just make things weirder; you never know! Don't try to break the windows and go outside, though; that's never a good idea.
*I'm not changing what it's called, because I can't think of anything better to call it. To explain 'from the outside': imagine if sex pollen were a space phenomenon you could fly through, and be directly effected mentally/emotionally. Hallucinations, particularly shared hallucinations, are common. Seeing people you love outside and feeling compelled to go out there is also possible. Other possibilities include seeing emotions as aura colors, feeling compelled to speak and act on one's deepest feelings, and not being able to understand other languages.
You can see why sex pollen wouldn't be out of place here, right?

"You bet," Konoka gave an delighted grin. Though at the moment, how Mary knew her 'style' she wasn't sure of.
She'd have a lot to talk about with Star Gazer, to be sure.
no subject
As Deece had volunteered, they all exchanged contact info, with Mary and Deece also volunteering the location of both some good restaurants and places where people trained their magic.
The Star Gazer was somewhat more reserved, yet still found herself eager to see what Konoka would do.
There was going to be an audience, after all, and she had no doubt Konoka was going to exceed their standards...
Only a few days later found them in one of those training grounds, where going shoeless was encouraged, and they had gotten to practicing accuracy.
"Can you follow the pattern I am outlining, Konoka?"
There was a sort of overlay, using the same projection method through the tether that the Star Gazer had used before.
no subject
Roughly three days pass, leaving her just two weeks until showtime. Konoka considered watching one of the live competitions as an option, but she was now working on her own practice, which she valued more.
For now, she was starting with the basics, following and projecting her magic using odd new tools. The wands and ofuda of home worked slightly differently from one another, and more different still than the rings that she now used like some of the natives. "I'm followin' so far," came her answer.
no subject
"Let's build up those patterns," the voidcraft whispered to her to-be captain, highlighting a path for Konoka to 'draw' her ring over.
"We should have at least three for you to mix together."
((OOC: Thought: what with the vision overlay, is there anything you'd like to play with involving that in this training scene? Anything that would not actually put Konoka in danger is an option, here.))
no subject
The patterns Star Gazer was giving her came from a multitude of magical training exercises from all over. While the basics of how she controlled magic at home worked just fine in drawing it in her, channeling it was a whole new challenge, hence these exercises. These might also help her develop new tricks, given that she didn't have access to many of her old casting tools.
"How will we mix them, though?"
[[My thought immediately bounces to 'video game styled simulation'. Maybe a magical girl styled beat-em-up?]]
no subject
"Well, how about this?"
Konoka's vision overlay changed, subtly; the colors around her would become brighter, the horizon a touch more distant. In a fixed circle, hovering in the air, there appeared targets, each in different colors.
"When approaching a target that's this color-"
The targets - patterns in the air - that were yellow, grew just a little brighter.
"You fill out the pattern by making each gesture a tiny circle of the wrist. That can be one method."
no subject
She aimed the hand wearing the ring. "Got it." Konoka aimed her magical strength, and a glowing ball of magical power, barely smaller than the target, formed nearby. She began to 'draw', using the gestures of her hand to fill out the patterns she was making.
Indeed, while she had been attempting tricks like this before, it was only after her wild onsen session that this target practice of sorts seemed to be slowly making sense.
no subject
"Yes, that works perfect! Now, for the other designs... perhaps making one 'style' out of tiny rectangle gestures?"
That one did not go as well, though geometric, floral, and even lunar themeings crept in to the rest of their session, ideas brought up, practiced, and accepted or dismissed (sometimes with laughter). The only exceptions the Star Gazer made to her overlay were when actual people came into Konoka's range, so that she could safely avoid hitting them with her magic.
no subject
They did in fact, discuss ideas, even while Konoka continued to practice the basics. While she was still a ways away from knowing what she wanted to perform, an idea was at least coming to her the more they talked.
"I wonder now what kind of spells I can actually cast beyond the light shows I make?" She eventually asked.
no subject
It didn't take much for Konoka to be invited out to certain other notable spots around the city, which also had the benefit of introducing Konoka to friends of both Mary and Deece.
All this, while good for Konoka's health, still meant she spent more time away from Star Gazer than they had been since they had first met. Some of this bled through while Konoka was asleep - feelings of an empty hull carrying on against vacuum, or facing the broad colorful mass of the void alone, or the sense of time slipping away without anyone through which to perceive it - though the Star Gazer made no mention of these feelings in Konoka's waking hours.
However, after another three days had gone by, with substantial progress for Konoka, the Star Gazer nonchalantly offered a gift, "for luck".
"It was in storage, unopened," she explained, and while she couldn't even guess as to why her previous occupant would have had such a thing, she felt Konoka was worthy and worth trusting with this surprise.
The box was small and black; inside were three thick purple bands, shaped like compact arrows. The shape was reminiscent of the Star Gazer's own form, and they were both comfortable and somehow warm to the touch.
no subject
At first, Konoka's biggest struggle was coming up with a theme for her contest entry, a connection to all of her now newfound magical capabilities. While she understood and could execute the basics of controlling her magical energy, she was struggling to find how to make it distinctly hers. It was something she struggled with until, a few days later, Star Gazer invited her to go pull out a certain box buried in storage.
The purple bands there looked simple, but they were warm to the touch. It seemed that they were special add-ons to the SCA, at least the parts around her wrists, and her collar.
"What are these?" Konoka asked, though she managed to affix these new bands and put them on regardless. Thumbing one of the arrow designs, she briefly thought back to the odd dreams she had last night: her body strangely displaced and drifting in the void. She felt like her human body had been bound and pressed inside a ship, feeling both naked and not, all at once. It seemed familiar to her in a way that she couldn't quite place, beyond the shape reminding her of Star Gazer's. It was weirdly embarrassing, but also freeing.
no subject
Of remembering Star Gazer, even if it was perhaps superfluous.
"We could test if they are reactive in some way with your magic?"
[[Thought: if Konoka puts enough magical energy into one or two bands, they could make her levitate? Not strictly as their function, more as a result of their synergy.]]
no subject
But also partially because this had given her something to think about, namely that she just now realized how little time she spent with Star Gazer, after having spent several weeks by her side.
"Let's. But first, a question, if you don't mind?" Konoka asked. When given the space, she'd ask, "Are you lonely?"
no subject
"My apologies, Konoka. I had been... worried, to say the least, mostly due to not being near you as frequently."
There came a mental sigh. "And that is- not entirely fair to you, either. You have been faring well, here."
And it was 'just' a visit, at that!
"It is hard not to find it silly now that you point it out, but that does not stop the feeling from existing."
no subject
The keyword there was almost, however. Realizing that Star Gazer actually had these worries was stark reminder of just how human her void ship really was, despite their lack of human body.
This made her giggle lightly. "It's okay," she said after a moment. "I know how feelings get. Listen, it won't be too much longer. When the contest is over, I'll make it up to you."
It took her a moment to remember that Star Gazer asked her to channel her power through the new bands. Konoka took a moment to focus, now letting her magical power seep through the bands. At first, it felt no different than the rings. But... she began to feel lighter.
Konoka looked down a moment later as she realized she was floating. "Whoa?!"
no subject
What gladdened her above that, however, was seeing the results of Konoka's magic, likewise feeling the harmony through the bands, the SCA, and Konoka herself.
"Ohhhh... That's lovely, Konoka!"
She pushed a calming sensation through the link. "Try and feel where your center of gravity is, dear."
no subject
And frankly, it was pretty nice.
"I... think I got it!" Konoka said, taking a moment to 'hover' and 'fly forward' ever so slightly.
no subject
"I'm glad!" she said, and there was an undertone of pride through the tether as well.
"... We might need more days of practice on this, however, if you wish to work it into your routine."
The Star Gazer had first intended on them placing, and it seemed more and more likely that that was as guaranteed as the voidcraft had thought.
no subject
For a moment, as she managed to steady herself, she imagined herself flying. She spread her arms out, but diagonally from her body. Eventually she began to glide forward.
Indeed, it was just like her odd dream the other night.
"I think I've got a theme now," she spoke after a moment of this. "I'm a traveller of the void, after all. A magical girl that wanders the worlds. Right now, I'm still finding myself again, but I'll definitely help those in need. And... I want to do this with you by my side."
Just one more question prodded her mind. "Is there a planet that you could fly in, too?"
no subject
"... Are you suggesting a coordinated flight, Konoka?"
That would require some paperwork-checking, if so.
no subject
Depending on how this went, she at least had a more interim goal to aim towards, on her way toward being a proper captain of the ship.
no subject
Warmth surged in the Star Gazer's voice as she said, "I would like that very much, Konoka. There may well be worlds designated for such a purpose; I shall look into it!"
It would also help distract her during the rest of the lead-up time to Konoka's performance.
no subject
And so, with both the theme of space traveler and a more immediate goal afterward, Konoka resumed her practice. More than just getting the actual magic right, she also had to show it off in a non-harmful way. Just as much dedication had to be shown in putting on a show of being a space faring magical girl as she did pulling off her newfound spells. Her confidence in placing high in this competition was roundly shaken, but she was nowhere close to giving up. Getting a better understanding of what she was capable of was already doing wonders.
The day of Konoka's performance was drawing ever nearer...
no subject
But the more Konoka imprinted her magic upon those bracers (or collars, depending how Konoka wore them), the longer their effects lasted at a time, unless Konoka made an effort to pull back her magic from them.
The skin beneath also became more sensitive, and... a sort of dualism of perception set in, where it seemed like Konoka was both human-shaped, and yet had wing-like structures, or felt the need to overcorrect when turning corners.
Or, just sometimes, that she could shift through walls and buildings, but this was an impulse it was best not to act on.
no subject
But it was the other things that came with flight that made it interesting (and perhaps, helped prevent her from getting too nostalgic and therefore wistful). When flying, she sometimes felt like her arms were less arms and more metallic wings. When she fed her magic into the bracers, they lasted longer than she needed to channel them. Whenever she concentrated on her magic, colors and sounds sometimes bled into each other in very interesting ways that told her a little more about the world, without being overwhelming. Expressing most of this became the goal of her 'talent show', as the day of the competition approached.
She would leave behind the sensitivity for now. She'd explore that a bit later.
With the day ready and no more time to practice, Konoka made her way to the building where the competition was being held. She was clad in the magical girl styled uniform, frilly but form-fitting clothing made to look sleek. Taking a deep breath, Konoka murmured, "Wish me luck." And hoped Star Gazer could hear it.
