SolarBalls testdrive... Title: Self(Derived)

-India reps disrupt Houston's follow-up press conference to complain about the drill recklessly endangering all nearby populations...
-Besides, they made a better way: two new robots, materials sourced from the most durable and ancient materials they could find. "And for NO PARTICULAR REASON, we have named them Theiasphere and Protosphere." (bonus: they are not spheres.)
-India brings them online... and the first thing the two do is leap away from each other screaming. #AnotherSolarBallsScream
-Quick-cut to the various CountryBalls/scientists trying to figure out what the new robots are saying - despite being Very Animated, nothing they say is audible, and scans indicate they're not using electronic communication. At one point Protosphere starts running through some maintenance exercises, like running through the robot's own manual. Theiasphere also does so, but more slowly.
-Theiasphere then gives nearly all of them a heart attack, turning rapidly and waving, saying: "HI THERE NEW LIFE! And thank you for these strangely accurately-named forms! :D Also, where exactly are we?"
-Quick-cut, an Indian rep debriefs the not-bots (ahem) on their mission purpose: to access the geothermal resources close to or in the Earth's core, and to rebuild and reinforce the nations' global communications systems.
-"The sun is shrinking? That's not right at all! We need to talk to the planet!" (Proto facepalms.)
-Theia continues to spill the beans re: all celestial bodies having some variety of self-awareness and communication ability. Proto fiddles with silicates out of anxiety, causing the humans to freak out even MORE.
-Turns out they both have useful abilities! Theia's main sphere of influence is magma/heat/convection, so she immediately prioritizes going to an appropriate location to do a deep dive (and hopefully resuscitate Earth). Proto is a sort of geomancer, able to shape different kinds of soil and minerals according to his will, in addition to a natural affiliation with all Earth-sourced electronics - which means creating a stable, high-bandwidth satellite shouldn't be very hard for him, right?
-(Why did they wake up as robots and not reincarnate as humans? Well, it is theorized that there WAS the beginnings of silicon-based life on Proto-Earth... which he immediately concludes is either ironic or karmic. This observation happens during the conversation the humans can't hear.)
-The next two scenes occur more or less simultaneously: Proto (with careful oversight) constructing the satellite... and finishing JUST as Neptune finds Earth in the Kuiper Belt. Both Proto AND the humans panik over being able to see Neptune from Earth's surface... also Proto realizes just HOW MUCH SCARIER being smaller makes the universe seem. MEANWHILE Theia (with much more alarmed oversight) is taken to [INSERT APPROPRIATE LOCATION HERE - oldest piece of tectonic plate still intact? An extremely volcanic area? The Marianas Trench???], and as soon as she's far enough down she starts catching drifts of the Earth's subconscious. (Imagery: waves, cold AND hot. Symbolize past distresses, the current weight of dealing with humanity, trying to do better with the other planets/moons.)
-"Wait- Theia? You're real? And here? And talking to me?!"
-"Yes, I'm real. And here. And right now, I need you to WAKE. UP!"
-Theia restarts some very important convection currents, succeeding in her mission - but, again, she is very small, and having a two-way link between them doesn't mean she's equipped to keep it up once the larger planet is again at full speed. So once the Earth IS awake, she's the one unconscious! Meaning Proto has to fetch her...
-But also, Neptune is here! Neptune talks to Earth, who is rapidly reconsidering every decision that got him to this point AND panicking for his Earthlings. On the plus side, the hallucinations are gone, so Proto and Theia being awake means that particular thread of madness has stopped. Earth and Neptune recap what happened with Planet X and Jupiter (which Theia, in a dreamlike state, overhears), worry more than a little over Uranus/Caelus (Earth because he has NOT been in a position to really pay attention to everyone else's big problems for the last little while, Neptune because he knows the whole name thing IS important to his cousin but knows it'll hurt him more if he promises to get said name correct yet still forgets, since that's not something he (Neptune) can control!), and don't QUITE panic over realizing just how bad the Sun is probably taking everyone disappearing. (It's a close thing, though.)
-Proto revives Theia, who immediately tries to convey as much of what she has just learned as possible. Proto begs her to slow down, and as more and more humans start hearing about/paying attention to the not-bots, gets her to go through the revelations one by one.
-"Did... did our dying break the Sun?"
-Thanks to the new satellite, Astrodude (Eric O.???? Tried to read that signature from the Veritasium episode, and that's my best conclusion so far.) is able to reach his wife and lead Saturn, Mars and Luna back to Earth. Cue wellspring of emotions, and being sad that planets (and Luna) can't hug.
-END BOOK 1 (on scene of Astrowife FINALLY getting to address a planet - knowingly, this time. Also we learn the son's name - he looks like a Charles or Charlie for some reason, so that's what I'm going with.)
