It was a medium-length line for processing contestants - signing one last (paper! Those from the planet seemed strangely excited about that bit) form to confirm they intended to follow all of the contest's rules - and then they were shown to an understated room where their performance order was determined.

That process took only five minutes; after that, they were left to decide if they wanted to join the audience (in a much larger room, where eyes were easily drawn to the main stage), or if they wished to stay in this room to meditate before being called up.

There was also a room where 'flowers of admiration' were stored, and while this was not blocked off, no one seemed to be gravitating towards it. If Konoka asked, there were no rules against meditating in there if she wished; most of the contestants were simply talking amongst themselves, or trying to quietly practice non-intrusive parts of their routine.

There would be another ten minutes before the first contestant would be called up, and Konoka's place in the lineup was 17; towards the end, but not the last.
